Who We Are

Dribble the World is the first extension of Ball for Lives, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that exists to “offer the love of Jesus Christ to those in poverty and oppression around the world, by mobilizing people in our own communities toward relationship and purpose with God and His Church.” We are followers of Jesus who are serious about being His hands and feet to a lost and dying world, and offering others the chance to join us.

The Beginning of Dribble the World

My name is Dan Occhiogrosso, and in the spring of ’07, the Spirit of God placed a dream on my heart that would change my life forever. As I was thinking about ways to promote Ball for Lives, I thought about my father who had run the New York City Marathon twice. He had told me about how many people were there and the crazy things he saw runners doing (like juggling!). So I began to think—why not dribble the NYC Marathon with a basketball? Once my good friend, Ron Abraham, offered to run it with me, we decided to go after this crazy dream together. Dribbling a basketball through all 5 boroughs of New York City with 38,000 runners and 2 million spectators could definitely raise some awareness and funds right?

Needless to say it did. God used that single accomplishment to spark a movement that is saving lives around the world and changing lives in our own back yard. How could one race, on one day, in one city offer hope to countless lives?
