What We Do

Dribble the World mobilizes people to dribble running events with the goal of  raising awareness and funds for people in poverty around the world. Each runner who registers with us chooses an international poverty cause that he or she is passionate about and uses that race to benefit quality organizations that are saving lives. Over 20 running events have been dribbled across the continent since the 2007 New York City Marathon!

How did one race turn into an international movement?

After the 2007 NYC Marathon, Ball for Lives received a call from our good friend Adam Reinking. He asked, “Hey, I heard Occh dribbled the NYC Marathon! There’s a 10k race in my hometown of Elkhart, Indiana. Would you mind if I dribbled it like Occh did to benefit the ministry of Bethesda Outreach in South Africa?” Check out their story here!

Then, we wanted to keep our presence alive at the New York City Marathon but had no idea who would dribble it for us in 2008. Who would be crazy enough to dribble 26.2 miles with a basketball? That’s when God put our vision on the heart of Gian Paul Gonzalez, a man of God with his own vision named 4-One.

Next, our friend Josh Waldron (who designed DribbletheWorld.com) dribbled a 5k race in Marrieta, Georgia, on Thanksgiving day. Josh is a public high school history teacher and inspired many of his students to get involved!

From Nate dribbling the Tampa Bay Marathon, to Ashley and Whitney dribbling Half Marathons in New York City, to Laurie and Kellyn dribbling 10+ mile races in Philadelphia, to Eric and Micael dribbling the Quebec City full and half marathons, our runners have helped organizations that are placing African orphans in families, building wells for accessible drinking water, rescuing children from prostitution, and much, much more.

Dribble the World also has its own running events: the 100 Mile Challenge, El Maraton Descalzo (The Barefoot Marathon), and the Preseason Marathon continue to be annual events that allow people across the country to join our effort in saving lives.

How does dribbling running events save the lives of those in poverty and oppression? See what we are expecting God to accomplish through us in OUR VISION.
