Life Saving Water from the Jersey Shore

When I was student-teaching 10th grade English at Timothy Christian School in Piscataway, NJ, I had no idea I would dribble the 2007 New York City Marathon with a basketball to help rescue orphans in South Africa. I certainly had no clue that Tommy, one of my students at the time, would be dribbling a half marathon in Atlantic City 8 years later!

Here’s what he has to say:

“Hey Everyone!

My name is Tommy Waszaj. I am 24 years old, I live in Princeton, NJ and have been attending Liquid Church (New Brunswick Campus) for a few years now. On October 21, 2012, I will be partnering with Dribble The World and will be DRIBBLING the Atlantic City Half Marathon with a basketball in an effort to raise $5,000 for Liquid Water (LiquidWater.com).

Liquid Water is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization that is dedicated to bringing clean water to the worldʼs poorest. Right now, there are 1.1 billion people on this earth who do not have access to clean, safe, drinking water. As a result, dirty water causes 80% of all sickness and disease. This is why Liquid Water was founded. It is their goal to bring safe, clean drinking water to remote villages all across the world. In the past 2 years, teams have gone out to Africa, Haiti and El Salvador and have brought clean water to over 10,000 people! They are able to do this by building Clean Water Wells. The average Clean Water Well provides safe drinking water to a village of 400 people for 20 years. The reason why my goal is to raise $5,000 is because that is how much it costs to build one well in a remote village. If you are able to donate to this cause, 100% of what you give will go straight to bringing clean water to the worldʼs poorest. Most importantly, Liquid Water uses this opportunity to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ to a desperate world, because that is what motivates us to love. I pray that you will join me in this cause by giving a simple donation. I firmly believe that lives will be changed!”

Here’s what you can do if you feel led to get behind Tommy in this amazing effort:

1. Donate directly to Liquid Water (Click here for Liquid Water Donation Page): Make a note with your donation, letting Liquid water know that you are donating in honor of Tommy Waszaj’s Atlantic City Half Marathon run with Dribble the World. They will send you at tax-deductible receipt.

2. Contact Us and let us know you donated. This way we can let Tommy know, and update you on how his race went!

3. Leave Tommy an encouraging note at the bottom of this webpage.

4. Post his story to your social media outlets and share Tommy’s vision along with the vision of Dribble the World.

Proud of you Tommy!

    Tommy,
… I just wanted to say thanks for giving of your time, energy & just yourself in helping so many have healthy safe drinking water…
I know if just one cup of a water to ONE in need is NOT overlooked, but rewarded, I can’t imagine what thousands will look like!

Keep Running Strong for Jesus! :)

    Thanks,

    Liddy
