2nd Quebec City Half to Help Children in the Dominican Republic

Please see this note from Caleb Pagé, who will be dribbling his 2nd Quebec City Half Marathon this Sunday:

Last spring, I had the opportunity to travel with Ball for Lives to the Dominican Republic in order to help out at three orphanages. It was an experience that made me realize even more just how much we have and how blessed we are in North America. In Jimani for example, the kids barely have supplies to feed each kid a minimum of food. jimani pantryThey don’t have access to video games, toys or sports equipment. However, the joy that these kids display on a daily basis is mind boggling. Their generosity with whatever little thing they have is amazing! Example: Each kid received a little piece of candy from us. Probably the only time they will get something like that all year. Two boys come up to me and tell that they will share the 1 piece of candy, because they want me to have the 2nd piece.

On August 24, I will be dribbling the Quebec City half marathon to raise money and awareness for the three orphanages we visit, but mostly for the one in Jimani. In order to attract as many people as possible, and possibly the media (TV, radio, newspaper), I have decided to dribble 2 basketballs this year. I will also be handing out information brochures at the marathon to raise as much awareness as possible.
Caleb and Juancito in JimaniIf you wish to join me in supporting these orphans, you may do so in a couple of ways. First of all, prayer. Pray that the message of the gospel will get through and make sense to these kids. Second of all, these orphanages are always in need of funding to provide the basic needs to each kid: Fresh water, proper nourishment, basic school supplies, basic first aid supplies, etc. If you wish to donate, and you are in the USA, you may do so on the by clicking the DONATE button on this page.  If you are donating from Canada and would like a tax deductible receipt, instructions below*.
Let’s love these orphans just has Jesus has loved us. “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I [Jesus] have loved you, so you must love one another.” John 13;34
Thanks,
Caleb
