Our Vision

So you probably get it by now that this website is about dribbling races all over the world to benefit African children orphaned by the AIDS epidemic. But what exactly do we expect God to accomplish through DribbletheWorld.com? Our vision is 4 fold:

  1. We dribble races to raise a ton of cash. Whether it’s biking, swimming, walking, or running, people use races constantly to raise money for good causes. Fundraising is a natural part of running races. However, by adding a basketball we believe that DribbletheWorld.com offers people something different to donate to, something they will be inspired to give more to than they normally would. 2. We dribble races to spread a message. As I dribbled the New York City Marathon in ’07, I wore a shirt that read “13 Million Orphans.” The vast majority of the modern world doesn’t spend much time thinking about dying children across the globe. By doing something out of the ordinary we want to wake up the world to what is going on in Sub-Saharan Africa. More than that, we want others to know that there are people doing something pretty incredible to make a difference.

  3. We dribble races to enable people to get involved. I’m convinced that there are many people who would like to save lives across the globe, but simply don’t know how they can make a difference. As more and more races are run (dribbled!) we rejoice in knowing that an increasing number of people are getting involved in saving the lives of African orphans. We hope that dribbling a race can be the beginning of a journey for that person, a journey to discover the potential of their life to change the lives of others.

  4. We dribble races to inspire others. Finally, for people who would never dribble a race (i.e. most people), we hope that our dribbling will inspire them to think about how they can use their talents and abilities to change lives. The possibilities are endless when people use their creativity to make a difference. Life is a lot bigger than basketball, and all our efforts together will make a bigger difference then any of us individually thought possible. Want to do something creative to benefit Ball for Lives?
