Who We Are

Ball for Lives is a pending nonprofit organization that exists to save the lives of orphans in Sub-Saharan Africa using the game of basketball. DribbletheWorld.com is a natural extension of that vision.

My name is Dan Occhiogrosso, and in the spring of ’07, the Spirit of God placed a dream on my heart that would change my life forever. As I was thinking about ways to promote Ball for Lives, I thought about my father who had run the New York City Marathon twice. He had told me about how many people were there and the crazy things he saw runners doing (like juggling!). So I began to think—why not dribble the NYC Marathon with a basketball? Once my good friend, Ron Abraham, offered to run it with me, we decided to go after this crazy dream together. Dribbling a basketball through all 5 boroughs of New York City with 38,000 runners and 2 million spectators would have to draw some attention right?

Needless to say it did. God used that single accomplishment to spark a movement that we believe will change countless lives. Our goal is to see people all over the world dribbling races to raise funds and awareness for the millions of suffering orphans in Sub-Saharan Africa. Other people have already joined the movement, and we are expecting many others to do the same. Ready to help us Dribble the World? Get involved!
